⁉️ Our Why

<aside> ⁉️ We believe that entrepreneurship is one of the most important ways to have personal impact in the world, and whilst they say it ‘takes a village to raise a startup’, the value created by all participants of that village are rarely distributed back in fair proportions to help the entire village grow. Navigating that journey is unnecessarily hard, often exclusive, and primarily rewards founders and financiers, not everyone else who helps create value along the journey.

🔭 Our Vision

<aside> 🔭 “Our vision is to be the world’s largest, active, decentralised & peer-to-peer community of startups, founders, and startup community ‘enablers’ who collaborate to help entrepreneurs and startups grow using open networks, shared resources, and in a way that grows a positive-sum community whereby all value created is captured, and distributed back to participating members in an open & equitable way, using Web3 as a platform.”

Our core thesis is that if we can capture more of the early, unpaid, value which flows in startup communities, for the benefit for the community as a whole, we can create a ‘flywheel’ to create more value for each other and all win together in a positive-sum game.

Positive Sum was ideated initially by @LeanCTO, inspired by his article Startup Community Next. He has spent decades thinking about how to create more sustainable startup communities, and has been building startups and startup communities for the last two decades, particularly in New Zealand.
